https://asta-umweltreferat.fs.tum.de/?ai1ec_event=ringvorlesung-umwelt-15c-geht-das-globale-handlungsstrategien&instance_id=84 As the signs of climate change intensify, there are growing political initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Traditionally, resistance to climate action has been based on arguments which suggest that environmental protection is costly for industry and jobs. In this presentation, I will suggest that on the contrary, the shift towards greater fuel and resource efficiency, and the promotion of low carbon energy transitions are triggering technological and social innovations that are feeding into a global sustainability revolution. Comparing developments in Europe, North America, and Asia, this talk will examine how the setting of climate targets and the concomitant introduction of climate regulations and programs, is helping to create new industries and reinvigorate economies.
